Marseille Host Its First Fashion Week in June
From June 7 to 14, 2025
Marseille will welcome the fashion world for the first edition of Slow Fashion Week, an event dedicated to sustainability and ethical innovation. Organized by the Baga collective, which brings together over 70 eco-conscious fashion players, this initiative aims to position Marseille as the capital of responsible fashion.
At a time when the fashion industry is accelerating, with global clothing production doubling between 2000 and 2014while garment lifespan has decreased by a third, Slow Fashion Week proposes an alternative. The event will feature runway shows, upcycling workshops, open studios, pop-up boutiques, and conferences, all designed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of fashion.
"We want to bring sustainable fashion to the national spotlight with a sunny, Mediterranean, and resourceful spirit—everything that represents Marseille," explains Charlotte Labigne, co-founder of Baga and designer of the brand Marj.
A key highlight will be a fashion show by Studio Lausié, a responsible fashion school, where 24 students will present collections made entirely from repurposed materials. By adopting the format of traditional fashion weeks—from Paris to New York—Slow Fashion Week aims to inspire change while keeping creativity at the core.
In France, interest in ethical fashion is growing, with one in two young people now purchasing from sustainable brands, according to a study by the Institut Français de la Mode and Première Vision Paris. This first edition in Marseille is set to be a milestone in rethinking the future of fashion.
